International Research Training Program and International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarships for Session 2, 2023
The Australian government gives scholarships to international students who want to get a higher degree in research through the International Research Training Program (iRTP).The program is administered by universities on behalf of the Department of Education, Skills, and Employment. Candidates must apply directly to participating colleges in order to be considered for the iRTP scholarship.

The goal of the Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) program is to help outstanding students who are doing research in areas that match the research priorities and strategic goals of the university. iRTP applicants will also be considered for the university’s International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES). 

Degree Level:

• Macquarie University offers Fully Paid International Scholarship Round 2023 for PhD and MRes level programs.

Scholarship Benefits:

Successful candidates for the PhD iRTP will receive:

• tuition fee credit for a maximum of three years
• maximum of a three-year stipend (the current rate for 2023 is $32,000 per year).
• Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC) through Medibank for the duration of the visa need. The GRA will arrange single, couple, family, or single-parent family housing, depending on the recipient’s situation.
• Travel Concession (applied to local transport using the OPAL Card)

PhD iMQRES candidates who are successful will receive

• tuition fee credit for a maximum of three years
• maximum of a three-year stipend (the current rate for 2023 is $32,000 per year).
• Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC) through Medibank for the duration of the visa need. The GRA will arrange single, couple, family, or single-parent family housing, depending on the recipient’s situation.

Eligible Nationalities Fully Funded Scholarship Round 2023 for Foreign Students:

• Students from any country can apply for this fellowship, except for those from New Zealand and Australia. 

Eligibility Criteria Fully Funded Scholarship Round 2023 for Foreign Students:

• You must be a citizen of a nation other than Australia or New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia.
• In S2 2023, you intend to pursue a Master of Research Year 2 or Doctor of Philosophy (no deferrals are possible).
• You plan to remain in Sydney, Australia, throughout your candidacy.
• You satisfy the English language requirement for HDR by the application deadline.
• You satisfy the entry requirements for the Master of Research, Year 2 (MRes Y2) or PhD, commencing in S2 2023.
• You will have a valid visa that allows you to start school in S2 2023.
• You have proof of supervision from a qualified researcher at Macquarie University (compulsory for FMHHS and desirable for the other faculties).

Application Procedure for Fully Funded Scholarship Round 2023 for Foreign Students:

The application period for S1 2023 begins on January 1, 2023, and ends on March 3, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (AEST). We advise applicants to submit their applications as far in advance of the deadline as is feasible. Note that all dates are in Sydney, Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
