The main responsibilities for this role include:
- General file management from opening to closing, including taking in information, checking for conflicts, making retainers and instructions, and interacting with the main client.
- Appointments, conference calls, discoveries, etc., are scheduled.
- electronic file management (DMS and Primafact).
- Communication with customers
- contributing to the preparation and electronic submission of diverse court documents (e.g., pleadings, trial records, motion materials, bookmarking in Kofax PDF).
- Assist in the preparation, delivery, and service of mediation memoranda and motion documents.
- Organizing and preparing documents for delivery
- maintaining an attorney’s schedule and an efficient BF system.
- preparation of all financial statements
- requesting checks, paying invoices, and implementing limiting directions.
- Transcription.
- Developing correspondence with clients and attorneys
Knowledge of Primafact and Vaselines will be an asset in this role.
The ideal applicant for this role will have 5+ years of demonstrable experience as a legal assistant or law clerk working in litigation and must be able to operate independently as well as as part of a team with a focus on delivering exceptional client service. Applicants will be highly organised, proficient in oral and written communication, and able to multitask.
