The purpose of the job:

This position is responsible for ensuring that all of World Vision’s GI-WASH and Northern Operations vehicles are always safe to drive and comply with all registration, licencing, and insurance requirements. It is also necessary to ensure that all drilling equipment is always in good operating order and ready for use.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

  • As Ghanaian law requires, make sure that the DVLA takes care of new cars so that they are fully registered and insured.
  • Ensure that all of the vehicle’s documentation is current and valid (renewals on roadworthiness, insurance, etc.).
  • Watch over the team of field mechanics and driver mechanics to make sure they do their work on time and to a high standard.
  • Plan all vehicle movements and assignments for visitors and project workers, and address any vehicle tracking issues that are identified.
  • Make sure that the drilling equipment and project cars have enough spare parts and lubricants.

  • Ensure that the maintenance schedules of all project vehicles and drilling rig equipment are up to date.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records for the vehicle fleet. Ensure that logbooks are complete.
  • Discuss with P&C, the police, and the insurance provider what to do if a corporate car or employee is involved in an accident.
  • Help choose drivers, certify them, retrain them, and keep an eye on them. Ensure that their performance is evaluated and their skills are enhanced.
  • Send a monthly report to the GI-WASH Manager, ROM, and National Fleet Supervisor, who then forwards it to the Director of Finance and Support Services.
